Quote from: Aldous Huxley
“How appallingly thorough these Germans always managed to be, how emphatic! In sex no less than in war - in scholarship, in science. Diving deeper than anyone else and coming up muddier.”
tl;dr Germany is cool, all the haters are fags. Don't let them get to you, Jack.

The funny thing about it is, I always say I have no national pride and that I could laugh about such things. But then I read those posts and it's actually insulting, that's kinda odd.

Anyway, enough of this self-pity. And thanks guys.

Don't get mad at commercials.

Seriously. There are things to be mad at but Commercials are not one of them.

(also for reference, Jeep, we never stopped making things, it just takes less people to make things)

It's funny because not only do I live within spitting distance of Chrysler HQ and personally know about 5 engineers that work at said HQ, but I also work on a lot of their driveline components.

Say what you want about their build quality (spoiler alert:  it's not all that great), but they have a fantastic marketing department.

They used 16-tons in a "clean" coal commercial. Goddamn son. Taking a protest song and using it for your commercial about the VERY THING IT PROTESTS AGAINST is just hilariously awful on so many levels, never mind that it's advertising something which doesn't exist. (I'm not really mad, just find it ridiculous that ultra capitalists would re-appropriate songs which protest against the very things they're doing and then advertise their shit products with it, basically spitting in the eye of every single worker while doing it.)

Hey, whoa. My dad had a problem-free 315,000 mile '92 Dodge Shadow up until '05. Ran perfect all the way to the junkyard. (my brother had crashed it and my dad didn't trust the newly crooked frame, but it was still good enough to be a daily driver for several months before we junked it)

His current '03 Sebring is doing well at past 200,000 miles, though Chrysler seems to do everything in their power to make it really, really hard to work on.

You must have gotten the 2 in 400,000 that actually don't break their transmission and rust after 125K miles.

They already got a cacophony of shit over it though, and stopped airing the ad.

It's like a Republican using a Bruce Springsteen song. Is it stupid? Yeah. Is it ridiculous? Yeah. Is it worth wasting time over? Not unless you ARE Bruce Springsteen.

An angry forum post isn't really wasting time or getting emotionally invested in the problem. It's more like blowing off steam.
