I generally do because no one ever says SPECIFICALLY what the states should have the power to do, and just kind of wave their arms and go "state's rights!!!". What, exactly, should the states have the power to do?

This is a fair question, especially since I didn't expand on what I think what the division of power should be between the Federal and State Governments. I don't think I'm smart enough to know what the perfect balance would be. Of course there should be over-arching safety, health and human rights regulations that the Federal Government would manage. But I do believe that the way things are now are too centralized and that more power should be given to the States. The "Race to the Bottom" scenario is a strong point. I'll address that in a later post, probably.

Also I agree that the food stamp program is a drop in the bucket and that feeding one legitimately desperate and hungry family in the face of ten abusers is totally worth it. I was just making a comment on the humility of some receivers is all.

Mo' lata.

Reminder: Guantanamo bay still exists. And another story from another prisoner.
Also, remember that in 2009 the Obama administration fully immunized everyone involved in imprisoning and torturing these people, from the policy-makers to the guards who directly participated in and committed torture. There is literally nothing in the court of law we can do to anyone who participated in this.

Okay seeing as how I can't vote in a state I'm not technically a resident of, I'm going to voice my opinion of the candidates.

Perry, Gingrich, and Santorum I've pretty much blocked out because they're all pretty much the same clown car self parody that is the remainder of the GOP.  Perry gets an extra round of applause for the sheer amount of unresearched shit that comes out of that man's mouth.  Gingrich gets the Petty Passive Aggressive Bitch Ass Old Man award for being a petty passive ag- oh you get the idea.  Santorum, I'm pretty sure, didn't know he was even going to get this far and doesn't know how sex works.  It's seriously like the guy can't comprehend that man likes to bone for reasons other than baby making.  The only saving grace is Bachmann dropped out.  I won't even go there, but they all deserve a pat on the back for sustaining the idea that with enough money and fear pandering anyone can be president!

Now as for Ron Paul, I can genuinely respect some of his standpoints.  In my opinion, the federal government should be downsized and tossed out of bed with the federal reserve (banks).  Let the states decide some of their own shit, I can understand that.  Also he doesn't (for the most part) let his religion get in the way of his belief of upholding the constitution.  That's all well and good, but I think it's time to move on to the negative shit.  First and foremost, the dude says some pretty blatantly racist shit.  I mean, shit man, and you wonder why you aren't getting minority voters?  Second, he harps a little bit too hard on giving states all the power again.  Yes I said "again" because when states held most of the power and there was little to no federal intervention a little thing called the Civil War happened.  All that being said, I am glad he's against the war in the middle east and war on drugs.  See?  I can end stuff with positivity.

As for YOU Obama.  You've done a pretty bang up job given what you were given to work with, but holy shit man that NDAA bill has got me wondering.  In addition, I don't see why GOPs are complaining about Obama's policies because most of them are pretty conservative anyway.

In conclusion, if I could vote Ron Paul would have to pull some first contact shit to get me to vote GOP.

Seeing as I can't vote in a country that I'm definitely not a resident of, I think the lot of them are worryingly backward dangerous idiots.

Well if we're going to play this game;

David Cameron extolled the virtues of being a Christian Nation; Gordon Brown was a doofus; something something Margaret Thatcher something something Middle East something something Oil Wars.

You missed out Blair the Warmonger and Major the so insanely boring that when it was revealed (a decade later) that he had been having an affair in office, he was basically commended for it for having done something vaguely interesting for once in his life.
