Nevertheless, I'd like to see some clarification as to why the Wii is "so terrible", considering it's given us some of the best, most interesting games this generation
Well, the really simple fact that it hasn't. I've played all these games people keep bringing up as proof that the Wii is this awesome console. I felt No More Heroes was inferior to Killer7, Twilight Princess was probably the most formulaic Zelda title ever (and yes, that is a bad thing. Majoras Mask was my favourite in a lot of ways because it broke tradition), New Super Mario Bros Wii is a crime against the industry, Madworld was buggy as hell and got really samey reeeeeeeeally quick (wheres the fucking enemy variety), and Super Mario Galaxy rated nothing more than a time waster.

Thanks man.
Fuck you you goddamn cocksucking NOOB.
Wait, what? All I said was thank you.

No More Heroes was a completely different game to Killer7. You're doing comparisons wrong. Thats like me comparing God of War with Calling All Cars!
Twilight Princess broke tradition too, from where I'm sitting. But like I say, it's opinion.
Why is it a crime against the industry? That explains nothing to me.
And also: Timewaster? Congratulations, you just described videogaming.

I mean, in my opinion, the Wii is actually a very good console, with some utter gems of titles.
But like I said, opinion.

God of War 2.

Hell no. Might as well list Dynasty Warriors while you're at it.
You could, if you were retarded and honestly thought the two were in any way alike. Those of us who can recognise that no, they're not, however, will refrain from that.

Hmm, lets see, both hack n slash games? Check. Both about warriors from ancient societies in the past? Check. Both involving mind numbingly bad plots to justify hacking through endless waves of enemies? Check.

Coulda fooled me.
See, thats the point wherein you can tell you either haven't played either of them or just have no fucking clue what a good story is. Considering you seem to think Halo 3 had a good story, I'm gonna go with the latter, although it could easily be both.

See, you havn't told me a single thing to refute my earlier point. The halo series itself had a great story, it was just not reflected well in the games. And I've played both games, and they are both terrible. I cannot believe you actually consider God of War a legitemately good story. Its like saying 300 was a great story for a movie. God of War took Greek mythology and shat all over it and portrayed that as a story.

Also, the Wii and Halo were both not shitty. Halo was actually a pretty fun game, and the Wii hosts about as many good games as the PS3 does.

It's a little early, but I think this is the best post of 2010.

By portraying them in probably the most faithful manner of any modern exploration of it? Besides, I think the thematic concenrns of the all consuming and destroying embracing of bloodlust removing all human pangs (who was it who said he who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man) of regret and self loathing  of an act so awful it would mark him forever (say, through a cruel trick played by uncaring gods who would abuse a mortal for their own gains), but leading to a deeper destruction of all - in this case, literally of everything - speaks for itself.

Except that you're describing the motivation for the main character in a way that would make it seem like a full story. While Kratos was a half decent character, the story was terrible.

As Gunny said, the character Kratos was good, but the STORY was terrible. As for most faithful manner of modern exploration, Clash of the Titans and Age of Mythology would like to have a word with you.
